Diving into a Unusual Steam Demo: Guiding a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. But, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure features a hero that is literally a piece of poop striving to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: just use a jump control. In one hundred fifty levels, you'll face tough enemies and unlock a shop to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.

Plan your actions carefully, as a error requires restarting the level. Leap off floating orbs to launch yourself to new heights, cross disappearing ledges, and activate triggers to unlock secret routes. Earn UN-KOINS for buying more difficult game content as things gets crazy.

Graphically, the experience shows off eye-catching environments and catchy music score. The retro graphics featuring moving geometric shapes could recall players of classic titles like Earthbound.

While it's tough to recall other games where you control a coiled turd, video games have long incorporated fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players create explosives from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up heavily in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable accolades, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the complete version set to launch on computers on November 19.
